The oldest branch on the Spring Holding family tree is Dizzy on the ’s-Gravendijkwal. In its more than 40 years’ existence, the jazz café-eatery has written national and international musical history. It was here that legendary trumpetist Chet Baker gave his final concert before falling to his death from the window of a hotel in Amsterdam. Through the arrival of other musical venues in Rotterdam, Dizzy experienced difficult years under later owners, but it still presents live music several times a week. Generations of Rotterdam music-lovers and other visitors have left their mark in this historic café.
